Dr. Lucas, Audiologist, Opens Huguley Practice
Otolaryngologist John Shea, M.D., announces that audiologist Nancy Lucas, Au.D. has joined Shea Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic as the director of the Cobb-Lucas Audiology and Hearing Aid Center.
"We congratulate Dr. Cobb on his retirement, and we are confident that the practice he built on exemplary service will continue to thrive. Dr. Cobb leaves a legacy of integrity and outstanding care, and Dr. Lucas holds those same values and patient-oriented philosophy. She even trained with Dr. Cobb during her Master's program," said Dr. Shea.
A board-certified and licensed audiologist, Dr. Lucas performs hearing tests and tympanometry, a test of middle ear function, for adults and children. She evaluates, sells and services hearing aids, including digital hearing aids. She also provides custom fit ear plugs and earpieces for hunters, musicians, swimmers and those who work in noisy environments.
Before opening her Huguley practice, Dr. Lucas was an audiologist for nine years with the Department of Veterans Affairs Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic. While there, she provided audiological services for thousands of our nation's veterans and supervised and trained audiology doctoral students.
"Growing up with deaf parents and deaf siblings has given me a special appreciation of the impact hearing loss can have on individuals and their families. My priority is to improve each patient's hearing according to their individual preference. After a thorough assessment of each patient, we discuss the various technologies and their capabilities, then fine tune the device for maximum benefit," explained Dr. Lucas.
Dr. Lucas earned her doctorate degree in audiology from Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and her master's degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association.
Cobb-Lucas Audiology and Hearing Aid Center is located in Suite 132 of the Huguley medical office buildings. For appointments or additional information, the office may be reached at 817-551-0466.
