Huguley Fitness Center will offer a 16-week running program for beginning and intermediate runners to train for the White Rock half-marathon. An informational meeting and sign-up will be held on Sunday, August 7 at 2:30 at the Huguley Fitness Center.
Experienced marathoners and Huguley Fitness Center instructors Sasha Eagle and Sheri Hayworth will lead the program, which features a weekly long run, a training plan, and instruction on nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, cross training and preparing for the 13.1-mile event.
The first group run is scheduled for the early morning of Sunday, August 14. “We’ll finish the run before the sun gets too hot, with plenty of time for people to attend church,” says Sheri Hayworth.
The cost for the 16-week running program is $100 for members and $125 for non-members. The running program fee does not include the cost of the White Rock half-marathon, which will be held on Sunday, December 4.
Sasha Eagle says, "Completing a half-marathon is a great accomplishment, and it’s a goal attainable by almost anyone. We’ll provide the structure, encouragement and instruction to get each runner across the finish line."
In addition to the running program, Huguley Fitness Center offers various group fitness classes, personal training, an aquatic center, basketball and racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor tracks, free weights, cardio equipment, and a Kids Klub.
