Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South has promoted Mary Lewis, RN, BSN, CEN, CPHRM, to Director of Risk Management and Accreditation. She was previously the hospital’s risk manager.
Lewis’ responsibilities include managing the maintenance and acquisition of certifications and accreditations from national healthcare accrediting agencies, overseeing infection control, and directing process improvements to increase patient safety.
This year, Texas Health Huguley has applied to be certified in chest pain and stroke, and to be recertified in advanced inpatient diabetes care and orthopedics by The Joint Commission. When the new hospital opens in August, The Joint Commission will also evaluate the new facility for accreditation.
“Whether she’s been in a patient care or administrative setting, Mary has consistently upheld the highest level of patient care and safety. With her energy, experience and training, her impact will reach across the lives of all our patients at Texas Health Huguley,” said Sharon Washburn, RN, MS, MBA, CPPS, administrative director of quality and safety at Texas Health Huguley.
A Cleburne resident, Lewis joined Texas Health Huguley in 2000 as an emergency department staff nurse. In 2008, she was promoted to care manager of the emergency department. With more than 20 years’ of nursing experience, Lewis will complete her master of science degree in nursing in May.
