Huguley Hosts Spirit Girls' Night Out

Huguley Memorial Medical Center is hosting the fashion-forward, fun-filled, fabulous “Heels & Wheels,” Spirit Girls’ Night Out to inspire women to find that health is their best accessory. This “don’t miss” event will be held on October 27 from 7:00 to 8:30pm at Honda of Burleson.  This event will educate women on breast health in a fun and informative event designed to move women towards better overall health and vibrant living.

In addition to valuable and relevant breast health education by Chandra Chellappan, M.D., OB/GYN, women will also enjoy a fashion show, boutique shopping, gourmet sweets, chair massage, door prizes,  and other activities. The event is free but reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made by calling 817-568-5480.
Although the primary goal of Spirit Girls’ Night Out is to educate women about their health risks, it is the action steps that follow that are the real reward.  “These events allow for women to come together in a trusted healthcare environment for information presented in an empowering format,” said Tanya Abreu, President and National Program Director, Spirit of Women Hospital Network.

“When you combine this with fun and friendship, they have the power to activate change: change that can positively impact the lives of these women and the lives of their families. Spirit Girls’ Night Out is in its 7th year and gaining in momentum with over 65 hospitals in cities all over the US working toward the same goal – enlightening, inspiring, and empowering women to take action over their health and the health of their families.”
Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the US. It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among women of all races (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). The core of Spirit Girls’ Night Out is increasing awareness and fueling action: prevention and early detection saves lives!

Health education, health screenings, and fun activities will be woven throughout the evening to emphasize the importance of these health issues.
Spirit Girls’ Night Out is organized and hosted by Huguley Memorial Medical Center, a member of the Spirit of Women Hospital Network, with support provided by Good Housekeeping Magazine. More than 65 other Spirit of Women hospitals will also host Spirit Girl’s Night Out events this fall – creating a national movement in women’s health.
