At 11:22 p.m. on January 1, Huguley Memorial Medical Center welcomed Kolder Joe Keeton, the first baby born at Huguley in 2008. Dr. Timothy Jones delivered the 7 lb., 5 oz. son of Christal and Kody Keeton of Cleburne.
“With every baby we celebrate the gift of life, but the first baby of each year is especially fun,” said Sheila Rogers, R.N., Care Manager of Women’s Services. “It’s a little like winning the lottery for the mothers who are expecting around this time.” More than 1000 babies are born at Huguley each year.
Besides taking home their bundle of joy, Mr. and Mrs. Keeton will also take home a special gift basket donated by the Huguley Volunteer Auxiliary for the first baby. It includes a teddy bear, clothing items, a photo album and frame, a blanket, toys and personal care items. Huguley volunteer Evalyn Huston has continued her tradition of making a special afghan for the first baby. National Bank of Texas donated a savings bond, and Everlasting Moments Studio will give the family a photography package. Mr. and Mrs. Keeton will also receive a couple’s membership to Huguley Fitness Center, which provides complimentary child care to all members.
