Huguley Memorial Medical Center will unite our community with 70 other cities across the U.S. for the annual Spirit of Women® national Day of Dance for Health on Saturday, February 27. The free event, held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Huguley Fitness Center, brings together people of all ages for an evening of education, dance performances, health screenings and community celebration focused on heart health.
Day of Dance for Health takes place during Heart Health Awareness Month to increase awareness of heart and vascular disease. Participants can receive free health screenings including blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, strength and peripheral artery disease. A brief presentation by the Heart and Vascular Center at Huguley will remind participants that heart disease prevention can be a fun and energizing experience.
The TCU Showgirls will kick off the evening by performing one of their award-winning routines followed by performances by local dance/gymnastics groups including Frances Lea Dance Center, Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Lucas Gymnastics and The Little Gym.
Cardiologist Alvaro Rios, M.D., and Huguley Critical Care Director Tonua Rubell will also showcase their dancing skills. The Huguley Fitness Center group instructors will demonstrate Zumba, a new fitness craze. Concluding the event, all guests will be invited to line dance to “stomp out heart disease.”
Refreshments will be served, and door prizes include Fort Worth Zoo tickets, Six Flags season passes, Dallas Mavericks tickets, one night’s stay at the Gaylord Hotel and more. Seating is limited; call 817-568-5480 for reservations. More information is available at www.huguleyspiritofwomen.org.
