Karen H. Dowling has joined Huguley Memorial Medical Center staff as the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
“I wanted to join Huguley because of the mission and to get back into rehabilitation,” said Mrs. Dowling.
For the past five years Mrs. Dowling has worked for Children’s Medical Center in Dallas where she was the director of planning for interdisciplinary programs and the director of the Perot Center for the Care of Brain and Nerve Injuries. In her five years with Children’s Medical Center, Mrs. Dowling served as the administrator for the clinical program development committee. In addition to her director positions, Mrs. Dowling also coordinated all public relations, marketing and community campaigns related to the Perot Center.
Prior to her positions at Children’s Medical Center, Mrs. Dowling worked as the director of rehabilitation services at Lifecare Hospital in Plano where she specialized in traumatic brain injuries, and pediatric therapy. Mrs. Dowling is a licensed speech-language pathologist.
Mrs. Dowling holds a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology and a master’s degree in communication disorders from Louisiana State University. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Texas Woman’s University. Mrs. Dowling is a board member for the Deaf Action Center of Texas and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
