Texas Health Huguley Hosting Inflatable Walk Through Colon and Physician Panel to Raise Colorectal Cancer Awareness
Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South invites community members to a free colon cancer awareness event on Friday, March 1 to kick off National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be held at the Texas Health Huguley Fitness Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will include the opportunity to walk through a giant inflatable colon with displays of polyps and stages of colon cancer as well as hear from a panel of physicians on the Texas Health Huguley medical staff including gastroenterologists, surgeons and oncologists about risk factors, diagnostic tools, treatment and recovery.
The inflatable colon will be available to walk through from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of Texas Health Huguley Fitness Center and the physician panel will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Texas Health Huguley Fitness Center Amphitheater. Texas Health Huguley clinical staff will be available to answer questions.
“According to the American Cancer Society, approximately one in 22 men and one in 24 women will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime,” said Kristy Robinson, APRN, AGACNP, OCN, Texas Health Huguley Oncology Clinical Coordinator. “We want this event to increase the awareness of the potential risks for colorectal cancer and that screening saves lives.”
