Patients and families seeking care at Texas Health Huguley can feel confident they are receiving nationally recognized care focused on helping them achieve their best possible health. Texas Health Huguley Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Excellent Health Outcomes for All Certification, becoming the first hospital in Texas and the first hospital in the AdventHealth system to receive this distinction.

Only 77 hospitals in the United States currently hold the certification, which recognizes healthcare organizations that consistently deliver safe, high-quality care and implement strategies that improve health outcomes for the communities they serve.

At Texas Health Huguley, that commitment extends beyond treating illness. The hospital focuses on caring for the whole person by identifying barriers that may impact a patient’s health, providing additional support and creating personalized pathways to help patients achieve lasting wellness.

“This recognition reinforces what our patients experience every day,” said Penny Johnson, President and CEO of Texas Health Huguley Hospital. “At Texas Health Huguley, we believe exceptional healthcare is about more than treating an illness, it’s about taking the time to understand each patient’s unique needs. By doing so, we are better able to identify potential health issues early, provide preventive care and create personalized support that empowers patients to achieve optimal health and lasting wellness.

One example of this approach is a specialized diabetes education program designed to support pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes or women managing Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes during pregnancy. The program was established through support from a W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant and addresses challenges many patients face when accessing healthcare resources and ongoing support.

Patients enrolled in the program receive individualized education, nutritional guidance, glucose-monitoring support and access to essential tools needed to successfully manage their health throughout pregnancy.

The results have been significant, including reductions in neonatal and postpartum complications and improved outcomes for both mothers and babies. Due to the program’s success, Texas Health Huguley has permanently funded the OB nurse navigator position to ensure patients continue to benefit from these services for years to come.

“Patients deserve more than excellent treatment during a single visit—they deserve a healthcare team that partners with them long after they leave our hospital,” said Dr. Ronny Ford, Chief Medical Officer at Texas Health Huguley Hospital. “By identifying barriers, providing additional support and meeting patients where they are, we are helping create healthier pregnancies, healthier families and healthier communities. This certification demonstrates our commitment to improving lives in meaningful and measurable ways.”
